Cristian Chivu answered criticism in the most effective way possible, letting Inter Milan’s football do the talking after a dominant 6-2 comeback win over Pisa.

As highlighted by Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, Chivu is not a coach who hides.

He responds on the pitch and, when required, in front of the microphones.

He does so with composure, clarity, and a quiet edge.

That approach had already been clear in December, when Inter swept aside Como coach Cesc Fabregas, another figure once linked with the Nerazzurri bench.

This time, however, the response carried wider resonance.

Following the win over Pisa, Chivu also appeared to address recent remarks from Jose Mourinho, who had spoken days earlier about his surprise at seeing “coaches without history” being given elite jobs.

The comments were widely interpreted as a veiled reference to Inter’s decision to appoint Chivu over more established names.

Mourinho had reportedly made himself available last summer, but Inter opted for a younger profile in Cristian Chivu.

That choice did not appear to sit well with the Portuguese, even if the two share a strong personal relationship dating back to their time together at Inter.

Chivu did not name anyone directly after the Pisa match, nor did he raise his voice. Instead, he delivered a measured message with pointed undertones.

“The reaction of the players was wonderful, but I never had doubts,” he said.

“My experience as a player and as a youth coach, even if someone questions my experience, has helped me. I take pride in the belief of these players. Despite the difficulties and the noise, not only from enemies, but also from friends.”
