Hakan Calhanoglu is running down his contract at Inter Milan, or so Juventus thought, as the Bianconeri had plans to add him to their squad when the season ends.

His deal expires at the end of this season, and for several months, it appeared that Inter Milan would allow him to leave because they believed the time was right to replace him.

The midfielder has been in Italian football for a long time, so a move for him would make sense for Juventus as they would be signing one of the top players in the competition.

However, a few weeks ago, it was revealed that Calhanoglu wants to leave Italian football and would only consider a move to Turkiye, where he could finish his career.

Because no club from the Super Lig had closed in on signing him, Juventus appeared to have a chance to secure his services. That situation has now changed.

Inter Milan Want to Keep Calhanoglu

The club are now planning to offer the midfielder a new contract instead of allowing the 32-year-old to run down his current deal and leave at the end of the season.

That development would be a blow to Juventus, who had appeared to have an opportunity to sign the experienced midfielder when his current contract expired.

Inter Milan’s change in position could therefore have a significant impact on Calhanoglu’s future. Rather than preparing to lose him, the club now want to convince him to remain with them.

Juventus Face Transfer Blow

The situation leaves Juventus with more uncertainty over their plans for the midfielder. Their hopes of signing Calhanoglu were based partly on the expectation that he would become available when his contract with Inter Milan ended.
