As Cristian Chivu and his Inter Milan prepare to face Roma, La Gazzetta dello Sport broke down the tactical battle ahead – one that pits two evolving teams against each other.
The paper noted, via FCInterNews, that while Chivu’s Inter are not a mirror of Inzaghi’s, Gasperini’s Roma are also still adapting to their coach’s principles.
Therefore, this could favour the Nerazzurri, given the former Atalanta boss had lost eight consecutive games against Inter under Inzaghi.
“Unpredictable even without Thuram,” wrote Gazzetta, describing Inter’s approach built on vertical passing lines toward the strikers and pressing on Roma’s centre-backs.

On the flanks, duels will be decisive, with Dumfries and Dimarco set to battle Wesley and Tsimikas (or Rensch, given Angeliño’s injury).
Chivu’s midfield will provide movement and balance, with Mkhitaryan expected to play a key dual role – supporting Bastoni and Dimarco defensively while screening passing lanes toward Soulé, identified as Roma’s most dangerous man.
“Koné is the Trojan horse of the Giallorossi, but Chivu counters that threat with the dynamism of his midfield,” Gazzetta added.
Probable Inter (3-5-2): Sommer; Akanji, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Bonny, Lautaro.
With verticality, intensity, and width central to Chivu’s plan, Inter aim to impose their rhythm early and maintain tactical discipline in a potentially decisive clash at the Olimpico.
