Ipswich Town have completed the signing of Argentina international Exequiel Palacios from Bayer Leverkusen on a four-year contract.
The 27-year-old midfielder joins for an undisclosed fee and becomes the first World Cup winner to represent the Blues, having been part of Argentina’s victorious 2022 squad in Qatar.
Palacios has also won the Copa América twice and was involved as Argentina reached the World Cup final earlier this summer.
The midfielder began his career with boyhood club River Plate, helping them win the Copa Libertadores in 2018 and two Copa Argentina titles before moving to Leverkusen in 2020.
During his time in Germany, Palacios made 186 appearances and played a key role in Leverkusen’s historic Bundesliga title triumph in 2023-24. He also lifted the DFB-Pokal and German Super Cup.
Palacios is Ipswich’s 11th signing of the summer as they continue their major recruitment drive following their return to the Premier League. He will wear the number 25 shirt and remain at Portman Road until 2030.
