Sky Germany reports that Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town have reached a verbal agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Exequiel Palacios. The fee is put at an initial €25m plus €5m in bonuses, and the midfielder has agreed a four-year contract to June 2030.

Final details are being negotiated, and a medical will follow once a total agreement is in place.

The approach follows earlier attempts, with an opening €20m bid made two weeks ago rejected.

Palacios won the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal with Leverkusen and was a World Cup winner with Argentina in 2022.

Since joining Leverkusen from River Plate in 2020, he has made 186 appearances in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing 17 assists.
