Alavés supporters’ group Iraultza 1921 say they will not attend San Mamés, pledging to stay away from Bilbao while current restrictions and poor communication remain, after accusing Athletic’s board of imposing bans and repression.

According to El Correo, the group complained that Alavés fans are again facing restrictions at San Mamés and highlighted a ban on symbols such as laurels, which are linked to the ultra scene. Athletic had already barred those emblems from its stadiums for the group two years ago.

Under the stadium safety protocol, home and visiting singing sections must submit images of planned banners to the host club in advance. Athletic then passes them to the Ertzaintza, who make the final decision.

Iraultza said Athletic’s security director had not responded to their queries, and argued the measures undermine the rights of Basque supporters. They pointed to years of trips to San Mamés with tifos, drums, giant flags and laurels.

The statement also called for respect for match-going fans and for an end to the current prohibitions.

On the previous occasion they raised this issue, other fan groups backed them, including Athletic contingents Herri Norte and Iñigo Cabacas Herri Harmaila.
