FC Bayern had been closely monitoring Givairo Read for months. However, a transfer of the right back from Feyenoord Rotterdam did not materialize last summer. Now, things could get significantly more difficult for the Munich club should the 20-year-old come back into the picture.

According to information from TEAMtalk, several Premier League heavyweights have now set their sights on Read. Reportedly, Liverpool FC, Arsenal FC, and Manchester City are all interested in the Dutch U-21 national team player.

Given his development, it’s hardly surprising that Read has made his way onto the wish lists of Europe’s top clubs. The right back has started the new season with five assists in his first seven league games, drawing attention for his offensive contributions as well.

Bayern withdrew from the transfer saga

Read was already a serious topic of discussion at Bayern in the first half of the year. The Munich club took a close look at the Dutch player and explored the possibility of signing him to bolster their right side of defense.

Over the course of the summer, however, their interest cooled. A major reason for this was the squad situation at the record champions. With Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanišić, several options were already available for the right-back position. Additionally, Sacha Boey ultimately remained in Munich.

From Bayern’s perspective, this meant there was no longer an immediate need to invest a significant sum in Read. That said, the Feyenoord player hasn’t necessarily disappeared from their radar entirely.

The interest shown by Nottingham Forest also demonstrates just how sought-after Read already was this summer. The Premier League club is said to have been rebuffed by Feyenoord after making an offer of 20 million euros.

Liverpool, Arsenal, and Man City join the race

Now, the list of interested parties could become even more high-profile. According to TEAMtalk, three top English clubs—Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City—are monitoring the situation.

Feyenoord finds itself in a comfortable negotiating position. Read’s contract in Rotterdam runs through 2029, so the Dutch club is under no immediate pressure to sell.

For Bayern, the increasing competition could drive the price even higher should they make another bid. Back in the summer, club officials decided against a transfer after the circumstances had changed.

Meanwhile, Read himself continues to provide reasons why Europe’s top clubs are taking an interest in him. Should the 20-year-old continue his current development, the transfer saga is likely to pick up steam again by next summer at the latest—this time, possibly with significantly more competition for FC Bayern.
