Chelsea dominated Roma on Wednesday night and they put six past the Italians in a dominant Champions League win.

There was no stopping Sonia Bompastor’s team as they got back to winning ways and the thrashing could be a sign of things to come.

Times have been tough for Chelsea in the last few weeks and they desperately needed a win to get back on track.

The Blues lost to Everton in the WSL over the weekend as their year-long winning streak in the league finally came to an end.

Following their shock defeat to the Toffees, Sonia Bompastor said she had full confidence in her team returning to form and they obliged with a resounding performance.

There were six different goalscorers for the reigning WSL champions but it was an own goal from Valentina Bergamaschi that opened the scoring.

Finishes from Wieke Kaptein and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd followed in the first half as the Blues cruised into a 3-0 lead.

Sjoeke Nüsken and Maika Hamano scored off the bench after half time, before Lucy Bronze capped off a 6-0 thrashing with minutes to spare in the game.

Start of things to come for the Blues?

The 6-0 win for Chelsea qualified them for the Champions League quarter-finals with one game to spare.

After bouncing back in such a resounding manor, Chelsea could be coming back to their imperious best form.

The Blues have just three games left before the winter break and a win in the WSL against Brighton on Sunday would keep them in the title race.

Their final game of 2025 is a League Cup quarter final against Liverpool. Should Chelsea win all three of their games before the break, they would put Europe on notice that they are back and ready to challenge after a bleak end to the year.
