Former England star Tim Sherwood believes Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025 /26 season.

Sherwood shares clear view on Salah’s future

Former England international Tim Sherwood has given his opinion on the future of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool predicting that the Egyptian star will leave the club at the end of the current 2025 /26 season.

Salah’s current contract runs until June 2027 but questions about his future have grown since December following strong public comments aimed at club officials and head coach Arne Slot.

Decline in form but still a threat

Sherwood spoke on Sky Sports and admitted that Salah has not reached the same level this season as in previous years.

However he stressed that the winger remains one of the best foreign players ever to play in Premier League.

He pointed out that Salah’s return after Africa Cup of Nations came at the right moment especially with injuries affecting players in his position.

According to Sherwood, Salah still causes problems for defenders even when not at his best because he draws two or three opponent and opens space for teammates.

“He will leave 100 percent”

Despite praising Salah’s quality, Sherwood was firm about his prediction. He said he believes Salah will leave Liverpool in the summer stating clearly that there is “no chance” of him staying beyond the current season.

Sherwood added that if he were in Arne Slot’s position, he would continue to play Salah. He argued that there is no benefit in starting public conflict with one of the club’s greatest players especially when the player is not harming team results.

Dressing room and leadership

The former midfielder also dismissed the idea that Salah causes problems in the dressing room. He said no player would realistically challenge Slot by asking to play ahead of Salah, given his status at the club.

Sherwood highlighted Salah’s recent celebrations where he pointed to the club badge as a sign of intelligence and awareness.

He believes the Egyptian understands his role and knows how to handle pressure & criticism.

A Liverpool legend nearing the end

Sherwood concluded by saying Liverpool fans should be grateful for Salah’s time at the club. Even with drop in pace and goals, he remains world-class player and a key figure in modern Premier League history.

He added that Salah deserves warm farewell at the end of the season, regardless of whether Liverpool win trophies describing him as a loyal servant who gave everything to the club.
