Albert Riera, Nathaniel Brown, Farès Chaibi and Michael Zetterer analyse the 2-0 win at home to SC Freiburg.
Head coach Albert Riera: “Congratulations to my team. The players picked up from where they left off in the second half in Munich, where they stuck to our plan despite being 3-0 down – that was an important signal to me. We won but it wasn’t all fine. We can still improve. We have to cross our fingers on Kaua Santos, we’ll know more on Monday. Michael Zetterer was immediately ready – like every other player, he just wants to help the team. Every player has to know that they’re important for the team when their time comes.”
Nathaniel Brown: “It was a lot of fun. The mood’s always better when you win. We have strength in depth in the squad. Having the option and the knowledge that there are good teammates on the bench, with tremendous quality, is beneficial to the team. It worked out. We want to have a lot of possession, display attractive football and give the fans something back. We have to keep working at it and do even better.”
Farès Chaibi: “We’ve had a huge amount of input from the coach, he teaches us a lot. We’ve overcome the hurdle. Now we need to make sure it carries on this way. It’s been tough for me in the last few weeks, which makes it all the nicer that I scored the goal. It was a very close match and we managed to emerge victorious. I give everything and keep working hard. Of course, I’m very ambitious and always want to put myself forward to play from the start.”
Michael Zetterer: “You only need to look at the table to see how important this game was for us. First of all, I hope that Kaua Santos hasn’t broken anything and wish him a speedy recovery. I hope he’s back on his feet soon.”
