Italian tactician Francesco Farioli was linked to several Serie A roles after leaving Ajax, but is reportedly on the verge of becoming the new FC Porto coach.
The 36-year-old used to be part of Roberto De Zerbi’s staff at Benevento and Sassuolo before breaking out on his own as coach of Karagumruk in 2021.
He then made his mark at Alanyaspor and OGC Nice, leading the Eredivisie table for most of the season at Ajax before a late capitulation to finish runners-up to Feyenoord.

Farioli was linked with many Serie A jobs over the summer, including Roma, Milan, Fiorentina, Lazio and even the Italy bench.
Now the Corriere dello Sport confirms he has been chosen to take over at FC Porto, once Martin Anselmi’s contract has been successfully terminated.
It is another new experience abroad for the Italian, who had started out as a goalkeeping coach in the lower league teams, and was an advisor to the Italian Football Federation from 2016 to 2018.
