Italy name squad for FIFA window, Jorginho of Flamengo left out | OneFootball

Italy have confirmed their squad for the next 2026 FIFA window, from 24 September to 6 October, and Jorginho of Flamengo has not made the final cut. According to Coluna Do Fla, the midfielder had featured in Roberto Mancini's preliminary list.

The Azzurra have four UEFA Nations League fixtures in that period. They will play Türkiye twice, and also face Belgium and France.

Born in Brazil, Jorginho naturalised as Italian after developing his career there. He represented the Azzurra from 2016 to 2024, making 57 appearances. Italy did not reach any World Cup in that span, having last featured in 2014.

His most recent Italy appearance came at Euro 2024. He has not featured since, though he had hoped to reach the next World Cup.

He made Italy's preliminary list for the final 2026 World Cup qualifiers, but the team lost to Bosnia in the play-offs on 31 March, ending their bid.

Jorginho remains focused on Flamengo in 2026. Leonardo Jardim's side meet Red Bull Bragantino at the Maracanã on Sunday 20 at 21:30 Brasília time in the 28th round of the Brasileirão.
