“It’s not important” Spalletti discusses Kolo Muani signing and goals | OneFootball

Although Juventus have just added Randal Kolo Muani to their squad, they do not appear to have a prolific striker in their current team after allowing Dusan Vlahovic to leave the club as a free agent this summer.

Vlahovic was one of the finest strikers in the league, and he appeared to fit well into Luciano Spalletti’s plans. The manager often used him when he was fit to play, ahead of Jonathan David and Lois Openda.

Spalletti never wanted to lose DV9, but he also understands that the club could only keep him if they could afford to do so. Juventus have now become a team operating on a tight budget, making it difficult for them to retain every player they would like to keep.

Juventus face Vlahovic replacement challenge

Vlahovic is one of the top players in the world in his position and has consistently demonstrated his quality when fit and playing under the right system. Juventus wanted to keep him, but they were ultimately unable to do so.

Replacing him with a striker capable of scoring 20 goals per season will be difficult. However, Spalletti believes Juventus can still enjoy a good season without having one prolific goalscorer leading the attack.

The manager believes the responsibility for replacing Vlahovic’s goals will be shared across the squad, with several players capable of contributing important numbers during the campaign.

Spalletti trusts Juventus squad

As quoted by Sky Sports Italia, Spalletti said:

“I think we’ve acquired some players who, in their sum, will be able to surpass those numbers. It’s not important to have one who scores 20 goals. This year the championship will be characterised by the fact that it is played on Thursdays and Sundays; it will be difficult to always make the same ones play. Europa League puts more effort into you than the Champions. But with people like the one we got, even without the physical centre forward you lack, even if Ekhator has a bit of those characteristics, Kolo fills the area; it’s a bit of an open space, but with what we have available, what we’ve done on the market, it’s something we’ll be able to make up for with everyone’s work. Alajbegovic is also one who can score goals. Kolo Muani, we want to help him with the numbers. For now, we are quite calm”

Spalletti’s comments show that he does not believe Juventus need to rely on one player to replace Vlahovic’s goals. Instead, he expects the squad to contribute collectively, while Kolo Muani will also be given support to improve his numbers.

With several attacking options available, Juventus will hope their goals can be shared across the team. Spalletti appears confident that the club have enough quality to overcome the loss of Vlahovic and compete effectively throughout the season.
