Leeds United defender Jaka Bijol’s strong form has been rewarded with continued Slovenia selection. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the centre-back now has a fresh international opportunity.
Signed from Udinese last summer, the towering defender enjoyed a standout second half to his first Leeds campaign, starting the club’s last nine games and completing every minute in seven of them.
He was named in head coach Bostjan Cesar’s squad for June’s friendlies and played every minute of Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Cyprus.
Slovenia’s second June friendly comes on Sunday evening away to Croatia, a 7.45pm kick-off at Stadion Anđelko Herjavec in Varazdin.
The fixture offers a final look at England’s first opponents at the World Cup before the Three Lions’ group-stage opener against Croatia, and Bijol has been named to start.
