Leeds United moved three points clear of the Premier League relegation zone with a 1-1 draw at Brentford, extending their unbeaten run to three matches.
Earlier, West Ham had led at Aston Villa, a scenario that would have dropped Leeds into 18th, but Villa came from behind to win and keep the Hammers behind Daniel Farke’s side. Leeds Live notes that Leeds and West Ham appear set for a fight over 18th in the coming weeks.
Brentford went ahead before Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s header earned a point for the visitors. Post-match, Calvert-Lewin joined Jamie Redknapp, Ben Mee and presenter Mark Chapman on the broadcast, where Redknapp said the striker’s first question was about West Ham’s result.
Redknapp added that Leeds have a style that suits them at present and plenty of positives, particularly at home. He said he thinks recent results will quieten talk over the manager’s position, which he believes helps the players and provides continuity, while noting the league is unforgiving and that Farke knows it.
Leeds will keep tabs on West Ham, who visit Manchester City next Saturday, before Farke’s side host Crystal Palace.
