Jamie Vardy has been contacted by Brazilian side Sao Paulo over a summer move, with the 39-year-old currently a free agent. According to Fabrizio Romano, the six-time Brazilian champions have reached out about taking him to South America.
Vardy left Cremonese at the end of last season after 29 appearances and seven goals, a campaign that ended in relegation to Serie B. He opted against an extension and returned to England with his wife Rebekah and their four children.
He has been weighing up his next step and has yet to make a final decision. West Ham, targeting more firepower for a swift return from the Championship, and Sheffield Wednesday, rebuilding after dropping to League One, have also made approaches this month.
If he accepts Sao Paulo’s proposal, he would arrive mid-season. They have played 22 league matches, winning seven and drawing six, and sit 12th in the Brazilian top flight.
Sao Paulo have lacked a reliable scorer of late, with five goals across their past six games and only one outing of two or more since early May.
Vardy struck 200 goals in 500 games across 13 years at Leicester, and, with his 40th birthday in January, could still add threat at centre-forward if he moves.
Alongside assessing options, he has launched a weekly podcast, Jamie Vardy's Having A Party, with guests including Wes Morgan. In its opening episode he dismissed talk of a Leicester return, saying he will instead support and follow the club.
