Aan de Mos says that Jasper Cillessen has been told by Louis van Gaal that he’ll be the first-choice goalkeeper at the World Cup.
With Justin Bijlow dropping out of the squad after a poor run of form at Feyenoord, Cillessen was expected to be the Netherlands’ starting goalkeeper, but Ajax’s Remko Pasveer was the one to play in the side’s last two matches against Poland and Belgium.
Cillessen said after the end of the international break that he wasn’t worried by this, and former manager De Mos says the 33-year-old has been told by Van Gaal and goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek that he’ll start in Qatar.
“The hype around Pasveer was a bubble, which was punctured against Napoli,” he told Omroep Gelderland.
