According to Sky News, a consortium involving Amazon founder Jeff Bezos could acquire one third of Liverpool’s shares, with Fenway Sports Group potentially announcing the deal this week.
The group is reported to be led by businessman Amit Bhatia, a Queens Park Rangers shareholder, and to include Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.
Three days earlier, ESPN reported talks between Liverpool and a consortium, though it did not name Bezos.
Sky News said a completed transaction would value the club at 6 billion dollars, about 5.2 billion euros.
Fenway Sports Group bought Liverpool in 2010 for 300 million pounds, about 351 million euros.
