Jerome Abbey signs first professional deal with Wolves | OneFootball

Record-breaking teenager Jerome Abbey has signed his first professional contract with boyhood club Wolves, days after turning 17.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Abbey joined Wolves aged six and later signed schoolboy terms at nine.

He rose through the academy and was fast-tracked into the first team last season while studying for his GCSEs. The midfielder made his senior debut at Burnley in May aged 16 years and 250 days, becoming Wolves’ youngest-ever Premier League player.

That outing at Turf Moor also made him the club’s second-youngest player in history, behind Jimmy Mullen in 1939.

Abbey has since trained with Cesar Peixoto’s first team and featured during pre-season. He was an unused substitute for the EFL Cup win at Port Vale.

He missed the start of the under-21s’ season through injury, underwent minor surgery and is now nearing a return to action. Abbey follows his brothers Jed and Jez in coming through Wolves’ academy.
