Corinthians have announced the signing of attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard, 33, who will wear 77 and becomes the seventh foreign player in the current squad. He has signed until December 2026, with an automatic renewal clause if agreed targets are met.
Lingard is only the second Englishman to represent the club, after Colin Kazim-Richards, who was born in England and capped by Türkiye. Kazim-Richards played 37 matches between 2017 and 2018 and was part of the Paulista 2017 and 2018 and Brasileiro 2017 title-winning groups.
Among the club’s standout imports, Ángel Romero tops the foreign appearance list with 377 games, 67 goals and six trophies. He is followed by Fabián Balbuena on 167 matches and three titles, and Freddy Rincón on 158 appearances with four trophies.
The current foreign contingent comprises Rodrigo Garro, André Carrillo, Memphis Depay, Fabrizio Angileri, Pedro Milans and Zakaria Labyad. Félix Torres and Diego Palacios are out on loan, to Internacional and Universidad Católica of Ecuador respectively.
Lingard is not yet registered on the CBF’s BID, so he cannot debut, and he will undergo physical reconditioning after last playing in December 2025. Corinthians host Coritiba on 11 March at Neo Química Arena at 21:30 in the fifth round of the Brasileiro, likely without the new signing.
