Sky Germany reports that Hertha Berlin striker Jessic Ngankam will join Eintracht Frankfurt on a permanent basis.
The final details of the deal have been finalised and the 22-year-old will join Frankfurt for around €4m plus add-ons and sign a long-term contract at the club.
Union Berlin had also shown interest in Ngankam but the 22-year-old rejected Union due to his love for Hertha. Ngankam is a product of the Hertha Academy having been born in the capital and Ngankam joined Hertha in 2015, his move brings to an end an eight-year association with the club.
Ngankam has only spent six months as a consistent piece in the Hertha starting 11. Last season, Ngankam spent the season on loan at Greuther Fürth, only to miss the majority of the season due to a torn ligament.
While this season, Ngankam would miss the first half of the season due to several injury issues. However, in his 18 games, he scored four times and assisted twice as Hertha finished last in the Bundesliga.
This signing will be Frankfurt’s ninth of the summer. The club have signed William Pacho (Royal Antwerp) and Hugo Larsson (Malmo) while also signing Robin Koch (Leeds United) on loan. Omar Marmoush (Wolfsburg) and Ellyes Skhiri (1.FC Köln) joined on free transfers and Philipp Max (PSV Eindhoven), Eric Ebimbe (PSG) and Ansgar Knauff (Borussia Dortmund) all had their loans made permanent.
