Jhon Arias is in line for a short holiday after roughly 18 months of near non-stop football, then rejoin Palmeiras following Colombia’s World Cup exit. According to Nosso Palestra, he is expected to have about a week off before reporting back.

At the 2026 World Cup he scored the winner in a 1-0 victory over Ghana to send Colombia through. They then went out to Switzerland in the last 16 after a 0-0 draw through extra time and a 4-3 shootout defeat. Arias started and played 66 minutes, and the change also reflected a suspension risk as he was on a yellow card.

His workload began early in 2025 with Fluminense, taking in domestic competitions and the Club World Cup. He was then transferred to Wolverhampton in July and moved straight into the European calendar.

After around six months in England, he returned to Brazil to join Palmeiras. Announced in February, the attacking midfielder slotted into the squad mid-season without a meaningful break.

With Colombia now out, Palmeiras are expected to manage the No 11’s reintegration carefully after a gruelling run that spanned Brazil and England plus two global tournaments. He will then return to the Academia de Futebol and be available to the coaching staff.
