Joe Gelhardt has again hinted he wants to stay at Hull City permanently after their promotion to the Premier League.
"It's a good question, isn't it? Let's see what happens over the summer, but it's pretty clear what I want to do." he told Hull Live.
The 24-year-old returned on a season-long loan last summer, having first joined on a six-month deal in January 2025. He enjoyed a career-best campaign, scoring 15 goals, including the second in a 2-0 play-off semi-final win at Millwall.
He came off the bench midway through the second half at Wembley on Saturday as Hull beat Middlesbrough to clinch promotion. Strike partner Oli McBurnie settled it deep into added time as the sixth-placed Tigers upset the odds.
Hull have no option to buy due to a recent transfer embargo. Last summer they could only bring in loans or free agents, a backdrop that makes this rise even more striking.
Their build-up was also hit by spygate fallout, with initial sessions geared towards Southampton rendered obsolete when they were expelled.
"It's amazing, it feels brilliant. To get back to the Premier League with Hull City, I love the club, I'm buzzing, I'm absolutely buzzing. It just shows what can happen in 12 months."
Gelhardt is due back in West Yorkshire after a short break, with talks expected over his future. Leeds initially wanted between £3-4million last summer, a figure that could rise after this season, and anything above £1m would be profit. He has one year left on his Elland Road deal.
