According to L'Équipe, Switzerland will again be without Johan Manzambi for their 2026 World Cup quarter-final against Argentina, scheduled for 3am on Sunday.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder also missed the last-16 tie with Colombia, which finished 0-0 after extra time, 4-3 on penalties. It was a match in which his creativity was absent.

Manzambi has scored three goals and provided two assists at this tournament, having emerged as Switzerland’s revelation.

Head coach Murat Yakin said Manzambi cannot play, adding they had tried everything but there was no medical green light. The knee contusion sustained in training has not fully healed.

Switzerland are contesting their first quarter-final in 72 years against the Albiceleste. They could reach a World Cup semi-final for the first time.
