Johann Lepenant (23) is expected to leave relegated FC Nantes this summer, as per a report from Foot Mercato. FC Lorient are very keen on welcoming the former France youth international, the publication adds.

Lepenant has excelled at Nantes since joining, initially on loan from Olympique Lyonnais back in 2024. His move was made permanent for a meagre fee of just over €2.5m last summer. However, Les Canaris endured a tough campaign and will subsequently play their football in Ligue 2 next season.

Now, he is expected to leave the Beaujoire, but he could stay in the region. Despite Nantes’ difficulties, Lepenant still retains a big reputation and there is interest, particularly in France and specifically from Lorient

The Breton club’s interest is very strong and they have already shown concrete interest in talks with the midfielder’s entourage.

Lepenant’s deal at the Beaujoire runs until the summer of 2029, which leaves Nantes in a strong position to negotiate. Despite relegation, they could prove tough negotiators.
