Official | Lorient sign Ibrahima Baldé from Rodez

FC Lorient have secured a Deadline Day move to sign Rodez centre-forward Ibrahima Baldé (23) on loan, both sides have announced. The 23-year-old has taken Ligue 2 by storm this season. The former RC Lens Academy graduate logged five goals – including a hat-trick on matchday 3 against Nantes – in only four Ligue 2 games. FC Lorient were in the market for a centre-forward after parting ways with Bamba Dieng, who joined Red Star Belgrade.

Alexandre Dujeux’s Les Merlus were very light in the centre-forward area with only Mamadou Koné and Aiyegun Tosin as available options. Baldé joined Rodez from RC Lens two years ago and went on to log 25 goals and three assists in 69 games played. The 23-year-old’s loan move to Lorient includes a reported €3m option to make his switch permanent. He’ll wear the No. 18 jersey for the Bretons.
