Portsmouth fans have reacted to John Mousinho's post-Swansea comments
Portsmouth manager John Mousinho has expressed his frustration after Portsmouth fell to defeat against Swansea City.
After avoiding relegation relatively comfortably last season, Pompey look to be in much more of a scrap to retain their Championship status this time around.
The South Coast outfit have won just four of their first 19 matches, with only two of those coming after August. As sides that initially struggled, such as Southampton and Sheffield United, have gradually improved, Portsmouth have slipped down the table and into the relegation zone.
Last season, Pompey turned Fratton Park into a fortress, picking up points from 18 of the 23 matches they played at home. 11 victories made up the bulk of their points tally and proved to be a crucial factor in their survival.
That hasn’t been the case this time around, which could be a worrying sign for Portsmouth. Mousinho’s side have won just three of their first 10 home clashes, losing five times, which already matches their tally of Fratton Park defeats from last term.

With points hard to come by for Portsmouth this season, their recent clash with Swansea City looked like a perfect opportunity to secure a result.
Like Pompey, the Swans have also seriously struggled this term, so much so that they were forced into relieving former boss Alan Sheehan of his duties. Vitor Matos was brought in to replace him and whilst still adapting to the division, provided a chance for Portsmouth to score a crucial victory.
The affair was a tight one, with not much separating the two sides. However, Liam Cullen’s goal 12 minutes from time proved to be the difference-maker, earning Swansea the three points and moving them further away from the relegation zone in the process.
This was of great displeasure to Mousinho, who opened up on his disappointment after the match to Pompey’s club media.
“Sickened with the result,” stated Mousinho.
“The way the game panned out towards the last 15/20 minutes, we looked at that point in the game like we could make some subs and freshen things up and hit them on the counter-attack.
“For large parts of the game I think we did that really well. We had some composed possession.
“Final third we didn’t create enough, but we had some good opportunities. It was just one moment in the game.”

As the Championship progresses towards the hectic festive period, a number of teams may be slightly worried about their current position in the table.
Pompey will certainly be one of those, as the likes of Norwich City, Swansea City and Sheffield United around them have all made managerial changes.
This means that there should, in theory, be an upward trajectory for these sides, whilst Portsmouth have chosen to stick with Mousinho. After the Swansea match, a number of Portsmouth fans have reacted to the 39-year-old’s comments in a variety of ways.
“I am desperately trying to think of something positive,” stated one fan. “Got it we remained unbeaten at Charlton. I love JM but maybe it's time. When a manager keeps chopping and changing the team, he has lost the plot.”
“Sadly devoid of ideas,” said another supporter, clearly in favour of making a managerial switch. “Make the change now while we still have time to salvage what’s left of our season.”
However, some members of the Fratton Park faithful have chosen to keep faith in their boss throughout this testing period.
“Bloke deserves a statue,” replied one fan. “To the minority of embarrassments in the comments, calling for his head, learn more.”
“Some of these replies are genuinely shocking,” stated another. “How anyone can entirely blame John for this period is beyond me. If anyone, blame the higher-ups for not spending enough. Our fan base will blame everyone and anyone. Disappointing.”
All in all, opinion seems to be split on whether Mousinho should remain in charge, but if results don’t improve, a decision may have to be taken sooner rather than later.
