One of the Owls' only potential saving graces could now be off the table...

Sheffield Wednesday have suffered a blow in their potential rescue mission from Dejphon Chansiri's grasp, with talks over a takeover with American businessman John Textor stalling.

The Owls are in a crisis once more as they are back in a situation where player wages have not been paid on time for the month of September, with the much maligned Chansiri failing to come up with the goods once more for a fifth time in seven months.

More embargoes have landed at Hillsborough in recent weeks, with Wednesday under five different ones as well as a fee-paying transfer restriction until the summer of 2027, and the situation is becoming ever more desperate - but it doesn't look like a solution in the form of Textor isn't coming anytime soon.

A report from the Daily Mail's Mike Keegan has shedded light on recent developments between Chansiri and Textor when it comes to talks over Sheffield Wednesday, and it's not what fans will want to read at all.

Keegan claims that ex-Crystal Palace stakeholder Textor has held talks with Chansiri over buying the stricken South Yorkshire side, but they have not progressed to the point where an agreement is any closer.

Chansiri, who has owned Wednesday since January 2015 after buying them from Milan Mandaric, was believed to be looking for around £100 million for the club, and turned down offers of £30 million and £40 million during the summer months.

However, it is reported by Keegan that Chansiri may reduce his asking price to £70 million if offers around that number come in, but this is a figure that is not likely to get Textor to advance in talks to save Wednesday.

Recent positives on the pitch for Sheffield Wednesday, where they are unbeaten in three matches having taken 5 points in that period, are being overshadowed once more by off-field events, and players are in a state of disarray once more at the non-payment of their wages.

These issues have been going on for much of 2025 now, and Wednesday fans are still no closer to getting Chansiri out of the club, although his hand could be forced sooner rather than later.

Simon Jordan's claim on talkSPORT that the upcoming Independent Football Regulator will wrestle control of the club away from the 57-year-old if he has not sold up by the time they're set to be introduced later in 2025 is a small bit of hope that Wednesday fans can cling on to, but Chansiri surely will not want to let that happen.

Instead, he will want to be in control of the narrative of this, and it would probably be in his best interests to sell up before that eventuality could happen - stranger things have happened though, and it appears we are no closer to seeing his turbulent 10-year
