Leeds United came from behind to secure a precious 2-2 draw against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Saturday in the Championship.
The Whites have struggled in the past at this venue, and similar fears arose when the home side took a 2-0 lead almost against the run of play.
Leeds pulled one back before the half time through Morgan Fox’s own goal, and Jayden Bogle added another in the second half to complete a dramatic turnaround.
In the second half, the Whites created some fantastic opportunities and could have won the game had they been more clinical. Nevertheless, a draw away from home, and especially in this manner is a good result.
Brenden Aaronson gave away the ball in the penalty area and Koki Saito made full use of it with a delightful finish to give QPR the lead inside 20 minutes.
Aaronson was impressive in the previous game, and David Phillips hailed him as “exceptional” on Sky Sports during the game. However, he was largely ineffective today and was taken off at halftime. Willy Gnonto replaced him.
Jon Newsome on BBC Radio Leeds was far from impressed with Aaronson’s effort and said it was like playing with ten men.
He said: “Willy Gnonto has done more in the last 10 minutes than Brenden Aaronson did in the entire first half. It was like we were playing with 10 men first half.”
It might appear that Leeds have dropped two points, but the situation isn’t as bad as it seems. Leeds are still leading the Championship table by three points, and they are in a great position before the international break.
It is now upto Burnley and Sheffield United to close the gap with the Whites at the top. There aren’t any easy games in the Championship, and Daniel Farke should be happy with the performance in the second half.
They were woeful first half but showed resilience after the break.
