Jon Uriarte has resumed travelling with Athletic, attending the league trip to Valencia, his first away outing of the season and first appearance in an away directors’ box. According to El Correo, the club president was with the team for Sunday’s match.

He skipped the earlier journeys to Barcelona and Vigo amid tension after the club decided to withdraw the complimentary tickets players received for games at San Mamés.

Uriarte did not fly with the official party, travelling to Valencia the day before for professional reasons, then joining up on Sunday and arriving at the stadium on the players’ coach. He also attended the official pre-match lunch between boards at El Gordo de Cortes.

The squad made public gestures over the dispute. In Barcelona, players declined to speak to the media. In Vigo, first and third captains Iñaki Wiliams and Unai Simón acknowledged disagreements with the board, and the goalkeeper said the issue had dragged on for four years.

On 30 August, the third captain said a meeting between the squad and Uriarte had a date set. More than 15 days later, that summit had still not taken place.

For now, the board is maintaining free tickets for players despite initially telling them they would end from the Atlético de Madrid game. Each player currently has four tickets per match, a number that can rise to six if he buys four more.
