Jon Uriarte finalises Edin Terzic deal to replace Ernesto Valverde at Athletic

According to El Correo, which first revealed it on 23 April, Jon Uriarte reached a pre-agreement with Edin Terzic to replace Ernesto Valverde at Athletic, and that deal has now been formalised.

Following an uncontested election, the process accelerated and both parties moved to execute the agreement and sign the definitive contract.

Terzic, 43, is based in Germany, where he has been working as a television pundit while keeping a close eye on Athletic.

He has known for several weeks that he would take charge and has already fed into planning for next season, offering views on renewals and potential departures.

Uriarte’s initial idea was to extend Valverde’s stay. The coach declined to continue, which prompted the president to turn to the market.
