MK Dons January signing Jonathan Leko has sent a message to Birmingham City supporters after securing his move to the League One club.
Leko had been little more than a bit-part player for the Blues this term – playing just over 200 minutes of football under John Eustace – and his permanent depart was confirmed yesterday.
The 23-year-old took to Twitter last night to send a message to coaches, players, and fans of the Championship club – thanking them for everything and wishing them good luck for the rest of the season.
Leko has shown his quality in two spells with Charlton Athletic, the first in the second tier in 2019/20 and the second in League One last season, but rarely found played his best in a Birmingham shirt.
The former West Bromwich Albion academy product cost Birmingham around £1 million when he joined permanently in August 2020 but he’s gone on to score just once in 50 appearances since.

The Verdict
This is a classy move from Leko after his Birmingham departure.
Things never really clicked for him at St Andrew’s and he took a fair bit of flak from supporters as a result.
It seems he’s not let that sour things for him, however, and has been quick to thank them after his departure.
The move looks a good one for all parties. A fresh start and the step down to League One should suit the player while MK Dons get a forward that has succeeded in the third tier in the past.
It frees up some space in the Birmingham squad and on the wage bill.
