José Alberto López has been discharged after a vascular complication required further surgery. He is recovering at home in Santander. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, a planned minor procedure early in the week did not progress as expected.

The complication led to a return to hospital for another intervention, then he was released and is now resting with his family.

It looks certain the Asturian will not be on the bench this weekend when Racing de Santander visit Castellón on Saturday.

The match carries added weight, as Segunda División leaders Racing face second-placed Castellón, separated by one point.

If everything goes to plan, José Alberto is expected to return to work during next week.
