According to COPE, José Bordalás will meet president Ángel Torres this week to discuss a possible renewal at Getafe, with any agreement hinging on the sporting plan.
The talks follow a standout season in which Getafe reached the UEFA Conference League despite one of LaLiga’s most modest budgets.
After an uneven first half, Bordalás’s side surged in the run-in, turning a survival fight into a push for Europe with few reinforcements.
The coach wants sporting guarantees as well as clarity on his deal. European football will demand a deeper, more competitive squad, and he seeks the club’s market plans before committing.
In parallel, two key exits could be finalised in the coming days, Mauro Arambarri to River Plate and Luis Milla to Al-Nassr, the Saudi side led by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Losing both midfielders would be a major blow and would force sporting director Toni Muñoz to rebuild a sensitive area of the team.
Arambarri, initially on loan from Girondins de Burdeos in 2017, has played 267 official games and scored 22, acting as Bordalás’s on-field extension.
Milla arrived from Granada in 2022 and has made 134 appearances, scoring three, with set-piece quality and link play central to his impact.
This week could define Getafe’s immediate future, from Bordalás’s decision to potential sales and the blueprint for competing in LaLiga and Europe.
