Corinthians expect José Martínez to report back on Friday, after staying in Venezuela during the break to renew his passport. His return comes amid Dorival Júnior's frustration over communication.

The head coach has attempted direct contact by message but received no reply. According to Rádio Itatiaia, the midfielder has been speaking only with Marcelo Paz, executive of football, and Renan Bloise, market analysis manager.

After the Majestoso at Neo Química Arena, Dorival said Martínez must win back trust within the group to return at his best.

His old passport would have ruled him out of international matches, including the Libertadores group stage, without renewal. Political turmoil and border closures in Venezuela during the process delayed his return to Brazil.

Day Rodríguez of the women's team faced similar disruption, yet returned after taking three flights.

Martínez has not played since 21 December, the Copa do Brasil fourth title, when he started against Vasco da Gama. He has not trained at CT Joaquim Grava and missed matches against Ponte Preta, Red Bull Bragantino and São Paulo.

Without him, Corinthians continue preparations to face Santos on Thursday at 19:30 at Vila Belmiro in the fourth round of the Campeonato Paulista.
