Josh Maja has thanked West Bromwich Albion supporters after rejecting a new contract and joining Ligue 1 side Le Havre.

The 27-year-old completed the move earlier in August after his Albion deal expired earlier in the summer. The player said in a post that he was grateful to team-mates, staff and fans, that wearing the badge was a privilege, and he wished everyone well.

Head coach James Morrison wanted to keep him and Albion offered fresh terms, but it became clear Maja would move on.

His Hawthorns spell brought 19 goals in 81 games across three seasons, including one campaign as top scorer, but it was disrupted by injuries. Two serious ankle problems struck, one cutting short a promising season after 12 goals by the new year.

Used sparingly for much of last season, he forced his way back into the side late on under Morrison and scored three important goals in the push for Championship survival.

The former Fulham and Sunderland forward arrived from Bordeaux in 2023 on a free transfer.
