Mehdi Merghem can finally turn the page and fully focus on his new challenge. The 28-year-old attacking midfielder is now officially cleared to play for SC Bastia in Ligue 2, following the administrative approval of his transfer, confirmed this Monday by his agent.

"The player is now officially cleared to play for SC Bastia, following receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC). Mehdi is eligible to make his debut as early as the next Ligue 2 matchday."

The agency also thanked the Corsican club "for its patience and professionalism."

After joining JS Kabylie last summer, Merghem left Algeria just six months later amid contractual tensions. He signed with Bastia until June 2026, with two additional seasons as an option, in a challenging context as the Corsican club currently sits 18th in the standings.
