Said El Mala could receive his first senior Germany call-up under new head coach Jürgen Klopp next month.

Sky Germany reports that Klopp plans to name the 20-year-old 1. FC Köln winger in his squad for Nations League fixtures in September and October, and that he sees significant potential in the youngster and wants to support him from the outset of his tenure.

The call-up would mark a major step in El Mala's rapidly developing career. He has yet to make his senior debut, although he was previously monitored by former Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann and has represented the country at U18, U19 and U21 level.

He has started the Bundesliga season strongly, scoring in Köln's 3-2 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Klopp's first Germany squad is scheduled to be announced on 17 September. His tenure is set to begin with four Nations League matches, against the Netherlands on 24 September, Greece on 27 September, Serbia on 1 October and Greece again on 4 October.
