Julian Alvarez did not train with Atlético Madrid on Wednesday as uncertainty over his future persists, with Barcelona still pursuing him.
The club said he had a bad night and did not feel well, and he did not even report to the training centre. The forward has been seeking a move for several weeks, having stated his wish during the 2026 World Cup.
On Sunday he played nearly half an hour against Villarreal in La Liga, a 2-2 draw, and the Metropolitano jeered and insulted him.
Similar scenes came in the 2-0 game against Malaga last Wednesday, even though he was not in the squad.
His relationship with supporters appears broken, but Atlético remain opposed to a switch to Barcelona, the move he wants. A Premier League transfer, with Arsenal a possible option, only seems plausible if the London club pay the 150 million euros asking price.
