The Columbus Crew kickoff their summer transfer window with two additions to their midfield. First, the Crew have signed free agent French attacking midfielder Dylan Chambost. The 26 year old Chambost most recently played for Saint-Etienne in Ligue 2. Last season, Chambost helped Saint-Etienne earn promotion back to Ligue 1 with 6 goals and 7 assists across all competitions. The former Saint-Etienne man also previously won a Ligue 2 title with Troyes during the 2020/2021 season. Chambost has 142 career games played scoring a total of 11 goals and 16 assists.
The Crew have also added 22 year old American Aziel Jackson from St. Louis City SC. Jackson earned himself his first cap for the USMNT this past January when he came on against Slovenia. This current season, Jackson has 1 assist across 920 minutes and has had trouble breaking back into an underperforming St. Louis side. Jackson now joins his third MLS team as he has a total of 51 games, 3 goals, and 7 assists across his minutes for St. Louis and Minnesota. In 2022, Jackson was named to the MLS Next Pro Best XI after a 10 goal and 7 assist season for Minnesota United 2.
These moves become the first under the Issa Tall era in Columbus. Tim Bezbechenko and other key members of the Crew’s front office are gone after the reigning few years of success in North America. Now it’s time for Tall and new members of a front office to keep a talented Crew side together for this next era.
