Olympique Marseille agreed a deal to sell Pierre-Emile Højbjerg to Newcastle United during the summer, but the midfielder rejected the move because he did not want to return to the Premier League.
The decision surprised Marseille, but it has given Juventus another opportunity to sign the Denmark international. The Bianconeri were also interested in him during the previous transfer window, although they were unable to complete a permanent deal and Marseille refused to let him leave on loan.
Højbjerg remains in France, but Juventus have not forgotten about him. The Bianconeri are planning to make another approach and could attempt to add him to their squad during the January transfer window.
Tuttomercatoweb reports that Juventus have identified Højbjerg as one of the players they would like to sign in January. The Bianconeri are considering several options to strengthen their squad, and the Dane is viewed as an experienced midfielder who could make an immediate contribution.
Højbjerg’s experience and quality would give Juventus greater depth in midfield. The club believe he has the attributes required to perform an important role and could provide leadership as they attempt to compete for major honours.
Juventus will want to complete the deal as soon as possible. Their interest could intensify during the winter window, particularly because they know other clubs may enter the race if they wait until the summer.

Højbjerg’s decision to reject Newcastle has kept the possibility of a move to Turin alive. Juventus must now convince Marseille to negotiate and persuade the player that joining the Bianconeri is the right next step in his career.
Marseille may still demand favourable terms before agreeing to sell, while Juventus will need to ensure that any deal fits their financial plans. The club’s interest is clear, but the outcome will depend on how quickly they act.
If Juventus delay until the summer, they could face greater competition for Højbjerg’s signature. The Bianconeri therefore hope to make progress in January and secure one of their preferred midfield targets before rival clubs become involved.
