Juventus and Tottenham have reached an agreement for the signing of Guglielmo Vicario, with the goalkeeper set to join the Bianconeri on loan with an option to buy.
Vicario had told Tottenham that he wanted a new challenge when the season ended and has been looking to join another club in recent months. Juventus had initially focused on other targets, but their plans have now led them to the Tottenham goalkeeper.
After failing to sign the likes of Alisson Becker and Emi Martinez, Juventus have turned to Vicario. The Bianconeri have taken advantage of the goalkeeper being out of Tottenham’s project under Roberto de Zerbi, giving them the opportunity to secure a player who has been seeking a move.
Vicario is one of the finest Italian goalkeepers at the moment. Juventus will therefore believe they are signing a top player who can improve their squad and strengthen their options in goal.
The goalkeeper has been hoping Juventus would make a move after deciding to leave Tottenham, and he will now have the opportunity to prove that he is the right man between the posts. He will also be expected to compete with Michele di Gregorio for the starting position.
Football Italia reports that Juventus have reached an agreement with Tottenham to bring Vicario to Turin. The deal will allow the Bianconeri to add a goalkeeper who has been keen on the move after deciding that he wanted a new challenge.
Vicario now has the chance to establish himself at Juventus and show that he can perform better than Di Gregorio. His arrival could provide the club with greater competition for the starting role and another quality option in goal.
Although Luciano Spalletti wanted other goalkeepers, the manager is convinced that Vicario will be an upgrade on his current first choice. He will therefore be keen to start working with the Italy national team goalkeeper and assess what he can bring to the team.
