Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio refused to be disheartened by the narrow 1-0 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League today, instead choosing to praise the “fantastic attitude” shown by his teammates. Speaking to Prime Video after the match, the custodian was quick to shift the focus from the defeat to the spirit demonstrated by the Bianconeri.
“Defeats are always annoying, but the attitude we saw tonight was fantastic,” Di Gregorio stated, via TMW. “This is the base from which we must start for all the matches to come.”
Despite his numerous saves not being enough to secure a result, the goalkeeper expressed pride in his colleagues’ performance. “I am happy to have made saves, but also disappointed with the result,” he said. “We played the right match; from behind, I saw a block that fought to stay compact. Details made the difference, but Juve showed great character today.”
The goalkeeper also offered support to a crestfallen Dusan Vlahovic after a missed chance. “What I said to him remains between us,” Di Gregorio concluded. “I know how much he cares, and I hugged him to let him feel all my love because he is a golden boy and deserves all our affection.”
Juve did have a clear plan in place during the tie and nearly got a point too. Vlahovic had that huge chance before Jude Bellingham’s goal and it could’ve changed the face of the tie. But for Juve, the performance was promising and Igor Tudor’s side will take confidence from that.
