Juventus Said to Be Looking for a Quality Left-Back

Having finally secured their new goalie, Juventus can turn their attention to less urgent matters, and they’d like to onboard a new left-back who could compete with Andrea Cambiaso, provided Juan Cabal exits, TuttoSport informs.

The former Verona star is close to Bologna and on his way out regardless of the destination. The Bianconeri have been linked a few times to Emerson Palmieri, who has already been coached by Luciano Spalletti. Conversely, Olympique Marseille are after Michele Di Gregorio.

Juventus have earmarked some younger but also pricier solutions, like Luke Shaw, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Alvaro Carreras and especially David Raum. They are particularly intrigued by the last one, but he has a €40M release clause. It’ll be tough to sign him for less than that.

According to Fabrizio Romano (via SOSFanta), the Old Lady is indeed planning to do something at the position. Despite some chatter about a swap between Nicolas Gonzalez and Carlos Augusto, they aren’t in talks with Inter at this stage. The latter is well regarded by Christian Chivu for his versatility and was persuaded to stay this summer.

Our Take on Juventus Searching For a Left-Back

The role has been a sore spot for a while, as Cambiaso hasn’t been able to recapture his old glory for a while now, and Cabal quickly faded. Still, keeping the former would restrict their firepower and latitude to get a better asset. They have already spent a lot this summer without any profitable sale. They’ll probably settle for an outcast on loan from a big team, which wouldn’t necessarily be the worst thing, depending on who it ends up being.
