Juventus target has decided to leave European football | OneFootball

Juventus were desperate to sign a new left-back in the last summer transfer window, and one of the players on their radar was Emerson Palmieri, with the Marseille defender opening the door for the move to happen.

The Ligue 1 side were also more than happy to sell a player who had just one season left on his deal. However, Juve could not offload Juan Cabal as they had expected, and that led to them deciding against signing another left back.

The January transfer window provides another opportunity to replace Cabal, but Juventus will not be able to sign Emerson because he has decided to leave European football and move back to Brazil.

Emerson closes the door on Juventus

Tuttojuve reports that Emerson has agreed to a deal to join Santos and is closing the European chapter of his career for good. As a result, Juve missed the chance to sign him during the last transfer window.

The defender had been an option for Juventus as they looked to strengthen their left-back position, particularly with the club unable to move Cabal on during the summer.

His decision to return to Brazil means that option is no longer available to the Bianconeri. Emerson will instead begin the next stage of his career with Santos, leaving Juventus to consider other possibilities.

Juve must look elsewhere

The good news for the Old Lady is that Emerson is not the only player they want to add to their squad in that role. Juventus can therefore turn their attention to another target when the window opens, provided they manage to offload Cabal.

For now, however, Emerson has closed the door on a potential move to Turin. Juventus will need to continue searching for a suitable left back while also working to resolve Cabal’s situation.

The Bianconeri had identified Emerson as a possible solution, but circumstances prevented them from completing a deal during the summer. His decision to leave European football has now removed that possibility altogether.

Juve will therefore have to assess their alternatives and determine which target can best strengthen the position. With the January window providing another opportunity to make changes, the club will hope to find the right solution after missing out on Emerson.
