Kaique is flying to Europe on Tuesday night to finalise a move to Sporting for four million euros, a deal that would be Palmeiras’ record sale of a goalkeeper despite him never appearing for the seniors.

According to Globo.com, the fee equates to about R$ 24 million at current rates and will be paid up front to Palmeiras.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Nacional in Portugal, returned as third choice, then accepted Sporting’s offer soon after. He also had offers from Al Wasl and the Nottingham Forest group, but recent time in Portugal in 2024 and 2025 and Champions League football counted for Sporting.

The sum surpasses previous goalkeeper departures. They include Diego Cavalieri to Liverpool in 2008 for 4.4 million euros, Vinicius Silvestre to Portimonense in 2023 for 1.5 million euros, and Daniel Fuzato to Roma in 2018 for 500,000 euros. Palmeiras will also retain 10% of any future profit.

Kaique joined Palmeiras at under-17 level in 2019 from Portuguesa and later became a regular for the under-20s. He made 77 appearances with 40 clean sheets and won eight youth trophies, including the Copinha.

In 2024 he joined Farense on loan, playing nine times, two for the under-23s and seven for the first team, then moved to Nacional and added 28 more games. He later returned as third choice and was an unused substitute for six senior matches.
