Kaito Mizuta has signed a three-year contract with Le Havre, becoming the club's second Japanese player after Ayumu Seko. L'Équipe reports that the 26-year-old attacking midfielder arrives on a free transfer.

The Normandy side's squad rebuild is taking shape after automatic extensions for Loïc Nego and Ally Samatta.

Born in Tokyo, Mizuta has spent most of his career in Germany. He featured for SV 19 Straelen, Mainz's reserves, Arminia Bielefeld and most recently Rot-Weiss Essen, having earlier appeared in regional divisions.

He will wear number 17. Last season in Germany's third tier he produced nine goals and 12 assists, but his team lost the promotion play-off to Greuther Fürth, 1-0 then 0-2.

At Le Havre, he favours the playmaker role. He will have the chance to settle quickly, as he speaks English and German.
