Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric kaze has issued an apology to the Amakhosi faithful following their heavy defeat to bitter rivals Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys fell to goals from Tshepang Moremi, Oswin Appollis, and Evidence Makgopa, to make it three defeats on the trot across all competitions.

Chiefs sit fourth on the Betway Premiership table, and are 11 points off log leaders Pirates, having amassed 30 points from 17 league outings.

Reflecting on the derby mauling, where his team showed little character in one of the biggest fixtures in world football, Kaze apologized to those in support of the Black and Gold jersey.

“On my name and on behalf of the players, I want to apologise to the fans because they deserved better today [Saturday], and we we were not up to the task today. We have to acknowledge that because we have millions of fans that came to support us,” he said.

"With that being said, I believe that it's a game that we emphasised the importance of the first 15 minutes, that we need to be on the front foot - we need to be alive, we need to be active. Unfortunately, we conceded [from] a short corner which we prepared very well how they're going to set up - unfortunately after that [goal] it's a lot of pressure.

"We lost a lot of duels, we lost a lot passes. I think the first half we were not good at all, second half we tried to change things in the changing room and that we need to go with more character, with more confidence and with no fear because I feel like the first half we played with fear and we were not pressing, we were not defending - everything we were doing it with it 50/50.

"The first 15 minutes of the second half I believe that we were better in the game, pressing and trying to find solutions.

The Burundian tactician went on to accuse Pirates of adopting dark arts to reign supreme in the derby, citing Sipho Chaine's frequent need for medical attention.

“But as well as I congratulated Orlando Pirates for the three points I have to congratulate them for their tricks that they did in the first 15 minutes - falling down every time, every minute - someone falling down - the keeper falling down,” Kaze added.

"He fell down like down like five times but he wasn't substituted. I have to congratulate them as well for that because it's experience, after that the game slipped out of our hands and the opponent deserved apparently the three points today.
