With three days to go until their trip to Munich, Eintracht’s preparations on the training pitch are in full swing. Nnamdi Collins spoke to the media after Wednesday’s session.
Eintracht’s preparations for the Matchday 23 trip to Bayern Munich are gathering pace. On Wednesday morning, head coach Albert Riera and his staff put the Eagles squad through their paces in the latest session ahead of the trip to Bavaria. “Our last two games – 1-1 at Union Berlin and 3-0 at Deutsche Bank Park against Gladbach – were good, as we only conceded one goal,” reflected defender Nnamdi Collins after training.
Among the 24 players involved in the session were four goalkeepers as well as Keito Kumashiro, Jeremiaha Maluze, Metehan Yildirim and Fousseny Doumbia. Ellyes Skhiri worked on his own in the gym, while Rasmus Kristensen, Arthur Theate, Ansgar Knauff, Can Uzun, Michy Batshuayi and Younes Ebnoutalib were all absent.
Kalimuendo and Burkardt take part
“I’m trying to take everything on board and implement what I’m being told,” Collins continued. “It’s a bit of an adjustment for the whole team when a lot of new things are being demanded of you, but I think we needed that. We’re all highly motivated and want to put the coach’s instructions into practice.”
Also taking part were fit-again strikers Jonathan Burkardt, who missed Saturday’s victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach through illness, and Arnaud Kalimuendo, who was taken off with an injury against the Foals. Along with the rest of their team-mates, the duo are busy preparing for the challenge that awaits the Eagles in Munich on Saturday.
“We want to win the game”“I’m going into it with a good feeling – we don’t really have anything to lose,” said Collins ahead of the trip to the current league leaders and reigning German champions. “At the end of the day, it’s a game like any other, with three points at stage. Bayern are obviously top of the table, we all know about them – they’re an incredibly tough side. Nevertheless, we’re going there with confidence and want to win the game. We’ll give everything we have to achieve that and we’ll see what happens.”
