Harry Kane feels the full support of FC Bayern in the race for the Ballon d’Or. The Englishman is visibly moved by this.

Harry Kane is among the top contenders for the 2026 Ballon d’Or. While the 33-year-old has so far refrained from making public demands, FC Bayern has been actively campaigning for its star striker in recent weeks.

In the club’s magazine, issue 51, Kane was asked what the support of his teammates and Bayern officials means to him.

“It makes me proud. I really appreciate how my teammates and the club have stood behind me. We work extremely hard together, and I work as hard as I can for the team. I’m very happy that they support me so much. I can only thank them for that.”

In recent weeks, several Bayern officials had already spoken out clearly in favor of Kane winning the Ballon d’Or. The striker himself, however, continues to focus primarily on his on-field performance.

Kane is hoping for a good omen in London

The venue for this year’s ceremony also holds special significance for Kane. For the first time, the Ballon d’Or will be awarded in London—of all places, the hometown of the England national team captain.

“The fact that the ceremony is taking place in London is, of course, something special for me. I’m from London and lived there for a long time—maybe that’s a good omen. No English player has won it in more than 20 years, even though there have been many great English players during that time. Winning the Ballon d’Or would be a huge achievement for me. But right now, I’m focused on performing at my best again this season,” said Kane.

The last Englishman to win the Ballon d’Or was Michael Owen in 2001. Kane could now end this long streak.

In the in-depth interview, the Bayern star also spoke about the upcoming match against his former youth club, Arsenal. In his view, the media is making a bigger deal out of the special history between the two clubs than he personally does. His focus is on doing his job and winning with FC Bayern.

Kane is also thinking about the trip to Stavanger. There, the Munich team will face a game on artificial turf: “We won’t change our style of play. The last time I played on artificial turf was in 2017 with England in Lithuania. It takes a little while to get used to the surface; it’s a bit harder on the knees and ankles. But with the right shoes, that shouldn’t be a big problem. It’s good that we’re playing there in the fall and not in the winter—otherwise, the difference would be greater.”
